More about the music
I’ve been a part-time musician and songwriter for most of my life and am a true believer in the power of music to inspire, heal and create love and community. I could never have imagined the spirit and drive this project would spark in friends and family, who have unquestioningly, wholeheartedly and unwaveringly joined the Team and carried it forward to today.
I was so fortunate to have Canadian musician Matt Mays step up and bring me into his Lost Mile studio (an absolutely awe-inspiring place) to record a version of ‘Every Day is Just Like Christmas’ – Matt was incredibly generous and recorded most instrumentation in advance, with Loel Campbell on percussion, while I added vocals and an impromptu kazoo solo and my wife and daughters, as well as some other friends chipping in on the chorus.
You’ll notice that most of the songs are ‘demos’. That’s just me doing a one‑take recording live with an acoustic guitar. The hope, as with all Team Christmas efforts, is that some great artists step up and record these demos… or, as a hopeful alternative, that we get back into a studio to do them properly (Lost Mile anyone???)
